Pathe hires Lookout Point CEO Faith Penhale to lead move into TV series
Selma and Philomena producer Pathe has hired Lookout Point CEO Faith Penhale to lead its UK-based production arm into TV series.
Penhale will become MD of Pathe Productions from 1 March 2023, with incumbent Cameron McCracken stepping down to take up the newly created role of head of film.
Her immediate focus will be Pathe UK’s expansion into TV drama. McCracken, who has been with Pathe for 23 years, will report into Penhale and will continue to manage feature production and distribution, including Richard Eyre’s Allelujah.
Penhale’s move comes three years after being named the sole CEO of BBC Studios-owned Lookout Point, following the exit of former co-CEO Simon Vaughan. Prior to that, Penhale had been creative director and worked on shows including Gentleman Jack, Les Miserables and Happy Valley.
The departure also comes a year since Damian Keogh left his role as MD at Lookout Point to launch a new Endeavor Content-backed scripted outfit with BBC Studios (BBCS) alum Helen Jackson and drama veteran Simon Vaughan.
Penhale said: “Pathe is iconic, setting the bar for the highest quality filmmaking. The opportunity to build on this unparalleled history – to be the most exceptional, talent focussed, proudly independent home for the best storytellers – was irresistible.
“I have had the most unforgettable 7 years at Lookout Point and with BBC Studios and while I am sad to be saying goodbye to many inspirational friends and colleagues, I can’t wait to get started on this next new chapter.”
Ardavan Safaee, president of Pathe Films, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Faith, whose extraordinary skills and experience will lead Pathe into the world of scripted television – our new primary focus in the UK.
“Her track record and her will to continue what Cameron has been building for many years, is in perfect alignment with Pathe’s ongoing efforts to be the natural home for the very best talents. We can’t wait for her to arrive and start building our new slate.”
