NATPE cancels Bahamas event following Chapter 11 bankruptcy move

The National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) has cancelled NATPE Global in Bahamas, which had been due to take place January 2023.

The event was launched earlier this summer to replace NATPE Miami and had been set to take place at the Baha Mar Resort and Convention Center from 17 to 19 January.

However, NATPE confirmed earlier this month that it was filing for bankruptcy, blaming the impact of the pandemic on its event schedule and revenues.

No decision has been made on the future of NATPE Budapest or other 2023 events. The not-for-profit outfit, led by JP Bommel, held NATPE Streaming in September in LA.

The organisation is aiming to restructure under Chapter 11 and said adding that event cancellations – including NATPE Miami earlier this year – had forced the organisation “to operate on its financial reserves, which now require it to reorganise the NATPE business structure.”

NATPE Miami had taken place in the Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach since 2011, but its last two iterations – earlier this year and in 2021 – were forced online as a result of the pandemic.
