Wildflame ups Connie Fisher to head of development

Welsh factual indie Wildflame Productions has promoted Connie Fisher to head of development.

In her new role, she will lead company efforts to partner with international broadcasters and build upon existing relationships in the UK. She will report directly to Wildflame CEO Paul Islwyn Thomas.

Fisher joined Wildflame in 2016 as development executive, during which time she has worked across a slate of projects for the BBC, S4C and Channel 5, including Michael Ball’s Wonderful Wales for Channel 5, and Katherine Jenkins: Home for Christmas, Carol Vorderman: Closer to Home and most recently Strictly Amy Dowden: Crohns & Me for the BBC.

Prior to joining Wildflame Fisher was a West End performer and the winner of Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ BBC1 series How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? She also worked as a television presenter on shows such as BBC1’s Songs Of Praise and Cardiff Singer of the World, before moving into production.

Wildflame is behind shows including Yellowstone Supervolcano: American Doomsday for Discovery+ Original; Secrets of the Celtic Grave for Smithsonian Channel and S4C / Discovery and Amy Dowden, Dare to Dance for the BBC.

“Connie is a rising star of the industry. During her time at Wildflame we have seen her become a key part of the team, largely due to her keen eye for fantastic talent and compelling stories,” said Islwyn Thomas.

“As we continue to establish ourselves as one of the go-to production companies for factual in Wales and the UK, Connie will help us in our drive for international growth, including forging new relationships with global broadcasters, building on commissions for Discovery+, Smithsonian Channel/ViacomCBS and Science Channel.”
