Argentina’s ‘El Hotel’ to be opened globally after Banijay acquisition

The Hotel

Argentinian reality competition format The Hotel has been picked up for global distribution by Banijay.

The show, known as El Hotel locally, was originally produced by Diego Guebel’s Boxfish for Canal 13 and sees 16 celebrity contestants isolate themselves for four months in a luxury hotel in the outskirts of a city – but with one caveat: the luxury establishment does not employ any staff.

At the start of each week, celebrities must decide who will be the ‘guests’ and who becomes the ‘hotel staff’. At the end of the week, an elimination duel will decide who leaves before the final winner takes home a cash prize.

Banijay will represent both the finished series and format globally (excluding Argentina, Spain and Brazil), with the show being presented at MIPCOM next week.
