Polsat orders local version of Zelenskyy comedy ‘Servant Of The People’

Polsat has commissioned a local adaptation of Servant Of The People, the Ukrainian comedy series that originally starred president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Polot Media is currently in production on the Polish version under the local title of Sługa Narodu. Marcin Hycnar will star as an ordinary man who is unwittingly voted president, while Maciej Bieliński will direct.

Servant Of The People

The original version of Servant Of The People ran for three seasons on 1+1 in Ukraine, and spawned a feature film. The show made a household name of Zelenskyy, who, mirroring the fictional events of the series, went on to enter politics and win a presidential campaign im 2019.

The series, which is distributed by Eccho Rights, has seen a large amount of international interest following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

“This is a hugely powerful script – a comedy, but one that spoke so deeply to the Ukrainian people that it changed the course of political history in that country, and subsequently the world.
