Gunpowder & Sky hires Primal Media alum for unscripted

LA-based producer Gunpowder & Sky has hired former Primal Media exec Paul Evans to oversee development for the company.

Evans becomes head of unscripted at the producer’s London office having most recently been a consultant for All3Media-owned Optomen Television.

Before that he headed up development for UK prodco Primal Media and has credits on shows including Big Heads for ITV and Home Free for Channel 4.

Evans will work with teams in LA and New York, overseeing all unscripted output from development to slate. He starts immediately and reports into Pasa Mustafa, Gunpowder & Sky’s UK creative director.

Mustafa described Evans as “a true creative with a unique approach, bold ideas, and a track record that fills us with confidence he’ll build on our strong slate and power our rapid growth.”

Gunpowder & Sky was founded by Viacom veteran Van Toffler and former Endemol Shine Group exec Flors Bauer and is behind shows including an untitled hip-hop programme for soon-to-launch short-form streamer Quibi, revealed last week.
