MIPCOM unveils 2019 Personality Of The Year
Robert Greenblatt, chairman of WarnerMedia Entertainment and direct-to-consumer, has been named MIPCOM’s 2019 Personality of the Year.
The veteran entertainment executive and producer will be honoured at a gala dinner at MIPCOM in Cannes next month, with the WarnerMedia Entertainment chief also taking part in a keynote interview.
“Robert Greenblatt is one of the most respected entertainment executives in our industry,” said Paul Zilk, CEO of Reed MIDEM, organiser of MIPCOM.
“His passion for creative excellence, his pioneering spirit and ground-breaking approach to programming have changed the face of the industry and in recognition we are honoured to welcome him to Cannes as the MIPCOM 2019 Personality of the Year.”
Greenblatt his been in the business for three decades and was chairman at NBC Entertainment prior to joining WarnerMedia in March, where he is overseeing the launch of streamer HBO Max.
His remit also extends to networks including HBO, TNT and TBS, while he has gained credits on shows ranging from This is Us and Will and Grace, to the US version of The Voice and The Good Place.
MIPCOM takes place in Cannes between 14 and 17 October, with Greenblatt taking to the stage for his keynote on Tuesday 15 October.
Past Personality of the Year honourees include Insecure creator Issa Rae, Discovery boss David Zaslav, and producer Shonda Rhimes.
