CBS takes Showtime to India

CBS and India’s premium streaming platform, Hotstar, have agreed a licensing and trademark agreement to bring Showtime to the region.

Armando NunezThe agreement will provide Hotstar Premium subscribers in India access to Showtime series such as the new comedy SMILF, stand-up comedy drama I’m Dying Up Here, the limited series Escape at Dannermora and the new Twin Peaks.

Similar agreements for Showtime have been announced with Fox Networks Group in Asia, Canal+ Group in France, along with Sky UK, Germany and Italy, Bell in Canada, Stan in Australia and Movistar in Spain.

Ajit Mohan, CEO of Hotstar said: “The deal with CBS is in line with our strategy of bringing the best of new shows and movies from around the world to our Premium subscribers.”

Hotstar also has exclusive content partnerships with HBO, Disney and Fox.
