Game of Thrones writer preps new HBO show
Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin will act as executive producer for the show Who Fears Death, which is in early development with HBO.
The new series has been confirmed by the author of the original novel, Nnedi Okorafor.
Who Fears Death is based around a fictionalised post-apocalyptic future version of Sudan, where the light-skinned Nuru oppress the dark-skinned Okeke.
Across social media Okorafor wrote: “My World Fantasy Award winning novel WHO FEARS DEATH has been optioned by HBO and is now in early development as a TV series with George R. R. Martin as executive producer.
“Note: This did not happen overnight. It’s been nearly 4 years coming.”
HBO is yet to confirm the development.
The US premium cable channel is gearing up for the launch of season seven of epic fantasy drama Game of Thrones on July 16.
