MGM prepares MIPTV Mutiny
MGM has snagged the international rights to reality series Mutiny and will be launching the finished show at MIPTV.
The 5x60mins reality series went out on Channel 4 in the UK. It follows a group of nine men as they seek to recreate the journey conducted by Captain Bligh’s and the men who survived Fletcher Christian’s infamous mutiny on the H.M.S. Bounty.
It was produced by Windfall Films and GroupM Entertainment. The show will be part of MGM’s line-up for the market alongside another unscripted offering, The New Celebrity Apprentice, hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and seed-funding competition series Steve Harvey’s Funderdome.
The scripted slate highlights include Margaret Attwood adaptation The Handmaid’s Tale (left) and EPIX series Get Shorty. Both are ten-part series.
MGM will be looking for presales on both. The Handmaid’s Tale will star Elisabeth Moss and was commissioned by CBC in Canada and Hulu in the US.
Another book and movie-inspired series that MGM will be preselling is Condor, based on the 1975 by Sydney Pollack political thriller, and for DirecTV’s Audience Network in the US.
