Linear fights off SVOD challenge in Turkey – data

The-Walking-Dead-season-7The demand for traditionally-distributed TV far outweighs that for original programmes from the main subscription VOD players, exclusive data shows.

Turkey_originals_200217The latest TBI/Parrot Analytics chart shows internationally-produced linear shows The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Vikings, and local shows such as İçerde outstrip to most in-demand digital originals by a considerable distance.

This is in contrast to many territories where demand for traditionally- and digitally-produced programmes reaches similar levels.

Turkey_overall_200217Zombie drama The Walking Dead took average demand expression of 16.73 million, which is almost five times the most wanted digital original (Netflix’s Narcos with 3.51 million), and more than eleven times the second-most in-demand Netflix title, Black Mirror.

Show TV’s local drama İçerde is more than three times as in demand as Narcos with 12.27 million, while Kanal D’s Vatanım Sensin took 8.88 million.

Turkish dramas have been big sellers internationally over the past half-decade, while international series, especially those from the US, heading into the territory have often rated well.
