Endemol Shine brings Guerrilla talent to town
Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) and Babou Ceesay (Black Mirror, Eye In The Sky) are headed to Cannes to promote their new political thriller Guerrilla.
The show is for Sky Atlantic in the UK and Showtime in the US and counts Idris Elba’s prodco Green Door among its producers.
The six-parter is set in 1970s London and follows Marcus (Ceesay) and Jas (Pinto) as they liberate a political prisoner and attempt to infiltrate a government department that is attempting to crush black activism.
Academy Award winner John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) has penned the series. As well as Green Door, Guerrilla producers include Fifty Fathoms, ABC Signature and John Ridley’s International Famous Players Radio Picture Corporation.
The series is being shot now, on location in London. Endemol Shine International is launching the series internationally at MIPCOM and is bring the show’s stars to Cannes to meet press and buyers. The distribution arm of Endemol Shine is also selling unscripted series at the market including Locked and Big Music Quiz.

In related drama news Idris Elba’s Green Door is teaming with Havas Media’s Ferris Entertainment and Tandem Productions to make Brazza, a gritty scripted series set in the underworld of Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of the Congo.
