Autentic declares War on Drugs in Cannes
German distributor Autentic is launching factual special King of Cocaland – UN Losing War on Drugs at MIPCOM.
The doc follows UN employee Jochen Wiese (pictured) as he tries to oversee projects designed to precent the cultivation of cocaine in Peru. The Wilfried Huismann film looks at the success of Wiese and the UN initiatives and investigates allegations of corruption.
Autentic is a joint venture between Beta Film and Patrick Hörl, and produces and distributes factual programming, as well operating the Spiegel TV channel. Anne Hufnagel (pictured) runs the distribution arm.
Its MIPCOM slate also includes The IS Network – Terror in Europe, in which journalists from German pubcaster ARD investigate whether there is a network of ISIS fighters in Europe.
“The documentary paints a sometimes bleak picture, with its oppressive mood and disturbing footage of radicalised Islamists,” Autentic said.
The distributor also has 15x30mins ZDF/Arte series Heights of Delights. The lifestyle show follows a team as explore remote parts of Europe, unearthing interesting local recipes and colorful characters.
The slate of new shows is rounded off with eSports doc World of Games – the Rise of eSports. The one-off doc follows events at a German eSports tournament attended by 40,000 spectators.
