Foothill joins Sockeye’s Mother Goose Club
Californian distributor Foothill Entertainment has taken on sales rights to preschool property Mother Goose Club, which comes from US prodco Sockeye Media.
Mother Goose Club is an educational 52x11mins series, which Foothill will debut at MIPJunior. It is based on a YouTube channel that has more than six billion views to date, and follows six colourful, live-action characters who bring classic nursery rhymes to life with emphasis on teaching children words.
Foothill and Sockeye are to coproduce a new all-CGI version of the property for the international market (pictured).
In development for the 2017/18, it will be 52x11mins and have a story-driven narrative, following the Mother Goose Club characters as they fix things that go wrong in the land of Goosica.
“We are delighted to be working with Harry and Sona Jho to introduce the entertaining and engaging Mother Goose Club series to traditional and new media platforms around the world,” said Foothill CEO Jo Kavanagh-Payne.
“Mother Goose Club is a proven YouTube hit, and our new episodes meet the needs of todays families who want multiple choices for where to watch TV together, whether that’s online, streaming, or in their traditional living room environment.
“Given the enormous popularity of the series, we are very excited to work with Sockeye Media to also develop the new story driven CGI-animated series.”
The original Mother Goose Club episodes are already available on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and PBS stations in the US.
