France’s TF1 creates studio arm
TF1 has created a new film division that will also cover movie production and licensing for VOD and SVOD and feature film sales to TV.
TF1 Studio has been hailed a mini-major and will incorporate all of the French broadcast giant’s film activities in one unit, including development, coproduction and distribution.
Among the eight separate divisions within TF1 Studio, Jérôme Loré will oversee video-on-demand. Sabine Chemaly will oversee international sales and Coralie Chave TV sales.
Former TF1 Enterprises boss Olivier Jacobs will run the wider unit with TF1 staffers Nathalie Toulza-Madar and Tristan du Laz will be the other senior managers.
“Beyond being a complete and coherent solution to serve our partners, our goal is for TF1 Studio to be a particularly innovative player with a strong foothold in the digital, capable of initiating and coproducing artistic projects,” said du Laz (pictured).
TF1 Films Production, the divison that fulfills the broadcast group’s filmmaking obligations, which are enshrined in French media law, will continue to operate autonomously with Olivier Jacobs at the helm.
