ABC Oz launches kids app

The kids division of Australian pubcaster the ABC has launched a new iPad app.

Aimed at 2-to-6s. the ABC kids play will allow children and carers to watch content on connected Apple devices, play games based on kids shows including Play School and Bananas in Pyjamas (pictured) and interact with shows and characters.

Two presenters from the linear Play School series, Zindzi Okenyo and Teo Gebert, will be on the app, guiding kids through it and giving advice to parents.

There is also a dedicated ‘grown ups’ section, giving guidance and suggestions on co-viewing and co-play activities.

Rebecca Heap, ABC TV head of strategy and digital products, said: “Created specifically for, and tested by, our preschool audience, the app has a high production value throughout and is one parents and caregivers can trust to entertain and educate their children.”

The free app, which is advertising free, is available via the iTunes store.
