Sky buys The Embassy ahead of MIPDoc
Australian ob-doc The Embassy has been picked up by a raft of international broadcasters ahead of MIPDOC.
The show, produced by Fredbird Entertainment and Southern Pictures for Nine Network in Australia, and has been acquired by Sky in the UK.
It has also been picked up by TV3 in Sweden and Voyage in France and French-speaking territories.
The doc series follows life in Australia’s embassy in Thailand as its officials deal with expats and holiday makers in crisis.
It is distributed by Discovery- and Liberty-owned All3Media International and is a highlight in its MIPTV and MIPDoc slate.
Other international launches for MIPDoc include food-meets-gardening factual series Kew on a Plate. Foxtel and SBS in Australia have already acquired the BBC Two series.
The distributor also has Born Naughty, the Channel 4 doc series in which medical experts come to the aid of families of children diagnosed with borderline behavioural disorders.
SBS and Foxtel have also bought this show, as has TV2 in Norway, SBS Discovery in Denmark and TVN in Poland.
All3Media will also be shopping social trends three-parter Grayson Perry: Who Are You?, in which the eponymous artist looks at who we are, and two-part How to Build an Ancient Megacity, which it acquired from UK indie Brave New Media.
