FremantleMedia sets up Fight in Cannes
FremantleMedia International has picked up action series The Fight ahead of MIPTV.
The show comes from Corona Television, which FMI parent FremantleMedia bought a 25% stake in last year.
The Fight stars Piper Perabo (Covert Affairs) as a conflict photographer, Riley Miller, who travels to war zones with a journalist to bring back war stories. Stephen Kay (Covert Affairs) has been drafted in as director.
Planned for five seasons, the show follow the pairing in dangerous locations such as Afghanistan’s war zones and Cartagena, Colombia’s cartel lands.
FMI plans to launch the series on the Croisette next week.
“The Fight is a passionate, dark and intense series,” said FMI CEO Jens Richter. “In Riley Miller, Stephen Kay has created a bold female character that gives an intimate, and sometimes harrowing, look at the world of conflict journalism and the dangers it entails.
“With the strong global elements, daring storylines and fearless characters, we are very much looking forward to presenting the new drama in Cannes.”
