Donald Sutherland in Cannes to smooth Pirate’s Passage
Veteran Hollywood actor Donald Sutherland will be at MIPCOM next week to promote his animated family adventure movie Pirate’s Passage.
Tandem is distributing the family movie and launching it at the market.
Sutherland, the star of another Tandem show, Crossing Lines, will be in town to meet press and buyers.
He is writing, producing and voicing Pirate’s Passage, which will debut on Canadian public broadcaster CBC Television. Tandem will have a demo reel for interested parties at the market.
Based on the William Gilkerson book of the same name, the TV movie is being made by Sutherland’s production company, Martin’s River Ink with Canadian studio Pip handling the animation.
The pirate story is set in 1950s Nova Scotia and Sutherland will voice the lead character, Captain Johnson.
Tandem’s other MIPCOM launches include upcoming Pink Panthers bank robbery drama The Last Panthers and crime drama Spotless.
