MIPTV 2014: TNFP to launch Belgian duel-channel format

Belgium-based distributor The New Flemish Primitives will launch a format that pits a pair of hosts and channels against each other.

Channel vs Channel is a 10-part series for rival channels Een and VTM that, according to TNFP, has broken all time ratings records in Belgium with shares of an average 53% for the two channels.

It sees VTM host Koen Wauters and Een’s Tom Waes compete against each other in adventure-style challenges suggested by viewers. The producers are deMENSEN for pubcaster Een and TV Bastards for commercial network VTM.

TNFP is the exclusive distributor of all deMENSEN formats. deMENSEN is a shareholder in TNFP.

TNFP founder Sue Green told TBI the format has already been optioned to one major territory and has attracted “strong interest” from key buyers ahead of its launch at MIPTV.

TNFP will also be selling formats such as Best Friends, which has run to three seasons in Belgium; Stronger Sex, which has sold into Norway; Everybody’s Famous and factual reality format 2013.
