MIPTV 2014: Zodiak picks up 9/11 doc

Zodiak Rights has acquired worldwide distribution to a new UK documentary about the forensic recovery mission that followed the 9/11 terrorist attack on New York.

9/11: The Final Chapter (WT) is a coproduction between Bearkatt Productions and GroupM Entertainment for UK broadcaster Channel 5.

Through access the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in New York, the show follows the race to identify human remains that were carefully salvaged from the wreckage of the Twin Towers in 2001.

Almost a third of the 2,753 people who died during the tragedy are still missing and with authorities planning to entomb the unidentified remains at a new memorial museum, the OCME is racing against time to make identifications.

The show, commissioned by Channel 5’s commissioning editor for factual Simon Raikes, will be in Zodiak Rights’ catalogue at MIPTV next week.
