MIPTV News: CABLEready secures pre-market deals

International distributor CABLEready has secured 170 hours of programming deals ahead of MIPTV, including deals with Discovery and BSkyB.

Discovery in France has bought two season of Oddities, which comes from US producer Leftfield Pictures and follows the extraordinary science uncovered by the proprietors of Manhattan’s Obscura Antiques & Oddities. The deal comprises a total of 73 half hours.
Discovery Networks Asia Pacific in India has licenced six hour-long episodes of Lost Treasure Hunters, which follows prospectors attempting to rediscover the long lost source of diamonds in Golconda, India.
News Corp-backed satcaster Sky has bought nine episodes of Inside the Actor’s Studio, including its 250th episode special. Sky in New Zealand, meanwhile, also licensed five episodes.
Philippines’ ABS-CBN Creative Programs, Foxtel in Australia and NHK in Japan have taken the 2013 Tony Awards, while Beep Omnimedia in Albania and Kosovo has acquired 14×60 mins series Count it Down.
Canada’s Bell Media, South Africa’s M-Net and Sun Media in Korea have also bought CABLEready content.
