MIPTV News: Nelvana takes Zack & Deuce, new Mike to MIPTV

Canada’s Nelvana Enterprises will take the newly commissioned second season of Mike the Knight and 2D animated comedy Zack & Deuce to Cannes next month.

Nelvana and coproduction partner HIT Entertainment announced production of Mike‘s second season this morning. The 52x12mins season will air on Treehouse in Canada, CBeebies in the UK and Nick Jr. in the US.

Nelvana and HIT have wasted no time in revealing it will take the new episodes to MIPTV for international buyers. The new season will introduce a new character, Mike’s father and role model, the King of Glendragon.

Nelvana has broadcast rights in the US, Latin America and France, with HIT taking all other territories.

The 52x11mins Zack & Deuce is based on the Scholastic book The Day My Butt Went Psycho, and follows a boy and his best friend – his detached bottom. Nelvana produced it with Studio Moshi and commissioning broadcasters include Teletoon in Canada and Australian channels ABC and Nine Network.
