Channel 5 calls on Trauma Doctors
UK commercial net Channel 5 has ordered a new observational documentary series set in a London trauma centre.
Trauma Doctors (4x60mins) will follow a group of specialist air ambulance medics at the Royal London Hospital as they battle to detect and identify victims’ life-or-death ailments. It debuts in April.
Channel 5’s head of factual, news and current affairs Andrew O’Connell said the show had gained “unrivalled access” to the doctors, who are based on the hospital’s roof, and their work.
Cineflix Productions UK, the British production wing of Canada-based Cineflix Media, is onboard to produce, while Cineflix Rights will distribute the show to the global market, where it will be known as Trauma Investigators.
Cineflix Productions UK’s MD, Camilla Lewis, said: “Channel 5 have been brave enough to ignore the trend for fixed rig, static observation and commission a 360-degree series that will allow viewers to really get inside the minds of some of the UK’s finest frontline trauma consultants.”
