BBC Three orders Darlow Smithson drama

British digital broadcaster BBC Three has ordered One Day Like This, a two part drama from Endemol-owned Darlow Smithson.

The miniseries will be produced in association with BBC Learning and will launch in the new year. It dramatises the events surrounding a fatal car crash, which devastated a small community and stars Coronation Street‘s Sasha Parkinson, Waterloo Road‘s Georgina Henshaw, Dani’s House‘s Lewis Rainer and Skins‘ Lily Loveless.

The 2x1hour drama was written by Terry Cafolla (Holy Cross), directed by Sarah Walker and produced by Nick Pitt (Silent Witness). It was commissioned by BBC Three controller Zai Bennett and Charlotte Moore, commissioning executive for documentaries. It will be exec produced by Dominic Barlow and Julian Ware.

It will be distributed internationally by Endemol Worldwide Distribution.

Darlow Smithson Productions is known for producing high-end factual series and documentaries. However, the production company has produced a number of dramas in the past including 1x90min U Be Dead for ITV and BBC Four’s Micro Men.
