Kinetic and STV developing National Treasures
Kinetic Content and STV Productions are making National Treasures, a new fact-ent format for UK commercial broadcaster Channel 4.
Kinetic, which is part of the Red Arrow group, created the format and Red Arrow International will sell it internationally. The US producer teamed with 4Rights, the rights exploitation arm of Channel 4 to develop the format and Kinetic will soon start pitching it to US networks.
The format sees well-known celebrities compete in revealing challenges and STV and Kinetic said they have already secured, as yet unnamed, A-list celebrity contestants from the US and the UK.
STV and Kinetic previously worked together on the ITV2 series Perez Hilton: Superfan, which was picked up in the US by The CW.

This is a brand new concept for a factual entertainment show and are we are confident National Treasures will be a success with Channel 4 viewers.”
Chris Coelen, CEO of Kinetic Content, said: “We’re delighted that STV, Channel 4 and 4Rights have rallied around the outrageous comedy and sheer fun of National Treasures.”
Dominic Schreiber, Rights Development Manager at 4Rights, added: “When Kinetic and STV pitched us National Treasures, we felt right away it was something fresh and unique. It’s a great fit for Channel 4 and we’re confident it will appeal to broadcasters everywhere.”
