Shine poaches Matt Campbell from SBS
Shine Australia has poached SBS programming boss Matt Campbell and he will become its new managing director.
This follows the announcement that joint chief executives Carl and Mark Fennessy are to take on expanded roles as CEO, Shine USA and president, Shine Network respectively.
Campbell has been executive director of content, television and online at the Australian public broadcaster since April 2006 and joined the organisation as network programmer in 2004. Previously, he had set up French independent production company Wallaroo Productions.
At Shine Australia, which was created in January 2010, he will be responsible for formats including MasterChef, The Biggest Loser and Dating in the Dark as well as new projects including producing Talpa format The Voice for Nine Network and The Renovators for Network Ten.
“I think Australian TV is amongst the best in the world right now and it is great local content that’s driving that success. I am thrilled to be joining Shine at this very important time of expansion,” said Campbell.
SBS will undergo a search for his replacement over the next few months and is expected to talk to local and international executives.
