Optomen strikes volume deal with new Indian channel

Real Global Broadcasting has acquired a raft of programming featuring UK celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. This comes after striking a deal with Optomen International.

The agreement with the Indian broadcaster is the first significant international sales deal following All3Media’s acquisition of UK producer and distributor Optomen in August.

The arrangement comes ahead of the relaunch of Real Global Broadcasting’s premium channels Real Lifestyle Network following the company’s termination of its arrangement with US channel operator Turner.

Real, which is run by the Alva Brothers, who also own a successful local production company, has originally struck a joint venture deal with Turner in December 2007 to launch a raft of channels. However, the Alva Brothers are buying back its stake in these businesses and are set to relaunch the channels in November.

The broadcaster has picked up five seasons of Channel 4 series Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares as well as four seasons of the US version US Kitchen Nightmares and two versions of Cookalong as well as five seasons of The F Word.
