AMC confirms Stillerman replacement

David Madden has been confirmed as president of original programming for US networks AMC and SundanceTV, replacing Joel Stillerman.

He will also take on the same role at producer AMC Studios, reporting in all capacities to AMC, Sundance and AMC Studios president Charlie Collier.

Madden was expected to make the move after leaving US broadcaster Fox, where he had been president of entertainment since 2014.

This comes after former programming chief Joel Stillerman exited to become chief content officer at Fox-backed streaming service Hulu.

“David Madden is a terrific, thoughtful person and a proven, tested executive,” said Collier. “He’s known broadly not just for his leadership but also for developing and producing original programming alongside some of our industry’s most outstanding talent.”

During his 17 years at Fox, Madden held roles such as president of Fox Television Studios, overseeing the development and production of shows such as The Shield, The Americans and The Killing.

“While I’m enormously grateful for my 17 years at Fox and proud of everything we accomplished at the network and the cable studio, I just landed my dream job,” Madden said.

“The opportunity to play a leadership role at networks like AMC and SundanceTV, which live at the very highest end of television content, and at a growing studio operation, is the culmination of everything I’ve done to date in my career and something I could not pass up.”
