Discovery Kids brings Nils to India

Discovery Communications has acquired animated series Nils Holgersson for its kids net in India.

Discovery Kids India has bagged exclusive local rights to the upcoming show, which is based upon the book by Nobel Prize-winning Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf.

The CGI series is currently in production. It is distributed by Studio 100 Media, which struck the Discovery deal.

Discovery Kids already runs Studio 100’s CGI toon Maya the Bee, and Martin Krieger, head of global distribution at the firm said: “We are delighted about this collaboration with Discovery Kids, which brings our brand-new show Nils to viewers in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

“Nils Holgersson is a well-known international brand and we are confident that the reimagined CGI series will be as successful as the 2D animation and will capture kids’ attention anew.”
