A+E adds execs, expands Lovejoy role in rejig
Ellen Lovejoy has expanded her content sales role at A+E Networks in the Americas, as Cisneros Media Distribution exec Helen Jurado joins as one of two recent hires.
Lovejoy has been named VP, head of sales, Americas and formats, reporting to Joel Denton, managing director, international content sales, and Edward Sabin, who was recently appointed as joint executive managing director of international alongside new recruit Patrick Vien at US-based channels group A+E.
To this point, Lovejoy has been overseeing sales in Canada and the US, as well as launching a global format sales effort. Based out of New York, she adds Latin America and the Hispanic US to her remit.
She was previously VP, international content sales, having joined A+E in 2011 in a director role. Lovejoy has worked at companies including the now-defunct Target Entertainment and Beyond Distribution.
Her promotion means Latin America sales consultant Mayra Bracer is stepping back. She will, however, work with A+E at NATPE in Miami later this month and on special projects thereafter.
Bracer was instrumental in launching and building A+E’s content sales business in Latin America and the Hispanic US.
Joining Lovejoy are former BBC Worldwide sales exec Jurado and Bryan Gabourie, who was previously at LA-based distributor Rive Gauche Television.
Both have been named senior directors, content sales, with Miami-based Jurado overseeing Latin America and Gabourie the US and Canada from out of LA. They report to Lovejoy, as do A+E’s global format sales team.
Jurado joins from Venezuelan distributor Cisneros, where she was VP, sales and business development. Prior to that, she held a VP post at BBCWW’s Latin America and US Hispanic arm.
Gabourie joined A+E this past summer, having previously been VP, international distribution and development.
“Helen has spent most of her career selling to Latin America, and brings a wealth of experience and fresh ideas to the table,” said Lovejoy. “Her vast knowledge of the market will be invaluable as we continue to expand our existing business in the region.
“Bryan is a seasoned sales executive and creative thinker. He will be an asset as we take our robust content distribution business in Canada and the US.”
The appointments weeks after A+E hired Pulse Films president Vien to jointly manage its international business alongside Sabin. Both report to president, international and digital networks.
