Power-ful two-season renewal for 50 Cent drama
50 Cent’s Power has received a two-season renewal, guaranteeing it fourth and fifth seasons.
The drama series plays on premium cable net Starz in the US and the new season orders follow season-on-season viewership growth through its first three seasons.
Rapper 50 Cent will continue as an exec producer in the story of a nightclub owner attempting to disentangle himself from his links to the criminal underworld.
The hip-sop artist, real name Curtis Jackson, co-created the show with showrunner Courtney Kemp.
Starz president and CEO Chris Albrecht said: “In today’s content landscape, it is challenging for a series to stand out, but Courtney is a singular voice working in television today.
“In Curtis, we not only have an immense talent, but an executive producer who brings a unique perspective, an authentic voice and passionate fan base that has helped in a large part propel the success of the series.”
Along with our executive producers and the talented Power cast and crew, they have created one of the most distinct dramas I’ve ever had the good fortune of putting on the air.”
Creator Kemp added: “I am humbled by this vote of confidence from the network and the opportunity to continue to employ our excellent cast and crew, who work tirelessly to bring this show to life.”
Internationally, Power is sold by Starz Worldwide Distribution and plays in 175 territories.
