Netflix eyes Gilmore Girls reboot
Netflix is in talks to remake US comedy drama series Gilmore Girls.
The original show ran on US broadcast net The WB and its successor The CW from 2000 until 2007, stretching to over 150 episodes.
Having already rebooted comedy series Arrested Development, to mixed critical and fan acclaim, Netflix is now in talks with Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, Warner Bros., which owns the Gilmore Girls property, and stars of the original series including Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, about a contemporary version.
US trades report the reboot would not run to a typical one-hour format, but is more likely to be a 4x90mins ‘limited series’, a new format for Netflix.
Netflix has not confirmed the Gilmore Girls move, but US reports said production on the reboot could commence as soon as early -2016.
