BBC Two taps 7 Wonder for consumer format
UK pubcaster BBC Two has commissioned a multi-strand, family-friendly consumer-focused series from Seven Network venture 7 Wonder.
Don’t Buy That, Buy This? (WT) marks the first time 7 Wonder has secured a series with BBC Two.
Presenter Cherry Healey will front the 6x30mins show, which will combine “rigorous journalism with a healthy sense of mischief”.
Each week the show will head to a different location such as a stately home and a state-of-the-art film studios to undertake a series of product test challenges.
“We will ask professionals and experts at the top of their game which products they would choose, promising to give audiences invaluable information and plenty of entertainment,” said Healey.
Australia’s Seven launched 7 Wonder with former Maverick Television executives Alexandra Fraser, Liza Abbott and Simon Ellse last year. The London-based firm scored its first commission, Micky’s Flanagan’s Detour de France, last year. The show went out on UK satellite channel Sky1.
BBC Two’s head of knowledge commissioning, Tom McDonald, and commissioning editor Craig Hunter gave Don’t Buy That, Buy This? the greenlight, with 7 Wonder’s Alan Holland series editor.
