Czech TV orders Everybody Loves Raymond format
Czech public broadcaster CT has ordered a local version of US sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
The classic series is distributed by Sony Pictures Television, which has already got local versions away in the Middle East (pictured), Russia, Poland and Israel, but the CT deal is SPT’s first scripted format deal in the Czech Republic.
The Czech version will be called Everybody Loves Rudy. It will go into production later this year with local prodco Film Brigade making the 12x30mins series.
Jan Štern, producer, Czech Television, said: “Everybody Loves Raymond is a family sitcom that appeals to a wide audience. It reflects a situation that is typical of many Czech families: parents being overprotective and overcaring, and behaving as though their children’s households are in fact their own. We expect a positive response on the part of our viewers.“
“Everybody Loves Raymond is perfect for local adaptation with its universal, familiar and relatable themes,” said Jeff Lerner, executive VP, scripted programming, Sony Pictures Television. “Local versions of this great show have proved very popular with diverse audiences, and we look forward to adding the Czech Republic to our growing ‘family’ of Raymonds in the region.”
