Azteca, Astro in telenovela pact
Spanish-language programmer Azteca and Malaysian pay TV provider Astro are partnering on a wide-ranging telenovela agreement.
This will see Azteca, Astro and Malaysian drama producer Global Station working to create Malaysian versions of Azteca telenovela formats.
Azteca will handle the output on the international market.
Astro has previously worked with Azteca on Akademi Fantasia (La Academia Azteca) and also on telenovela network Astro Bella Channel.
This agreement fortifies our friendship with Astro and at the same time focuses on our commitment to delivering quality programming to worldwide audiences,” said Azteca’s VP, international sales, Marcel Vinay.
“With Astro’s consumer and marketing know-how, Global’s production expertise and Azteca’s distribution strengths we are confident that these adapted telenovelas will meet the increasing demand for localised content from the multicultural and diverse people of this region, as well as be able to travel beyond Malaysia to delight audiences around the world,” added Agnes Rozario, VP of Astro’s content group.
