50 Cent heading to MIPTV for Power debut
Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent, will be in Cannes for MIPTV to unveil his new drama series Power.
MIP is hosting the world premiere of the upcoming drama series, which will be on Starz in the US. The premium cabler’s sales arm is distributing the show and will be preselling it in Cannes. Show talent will also attend the red carpet MIPTV Opening Night Party.
“I am excited to host the World Premiere TV Screening of Power at MIPTV with Starz. We are looking forward to bringing this story to audiences around the world,” said Jackson.
“Starz is thrilled to premiere Power at MIPTV 2014,” said Starz CEO Chris Albrecht. “We believe worldwide audiences will be swept up in the storytelling, the city and the music. MIPTV is the perfect setting to premiere Power.”
Jackson is executive producing it is now confirmed he will appear in the series. It follows a gangster and drug dealer (Omari Hardwick) as he seeks to build a legitimate night club business.
Lela Loren (Gang Related), Naturi Naughton (Mad Men) and Jospeh Sikora (Shutter Island) will all star in the drama series, which was created by Courtney Kemp Agboh (The Good Wife), who will also appear onstage with Jackson and Hardwick.
Loren will play an old flame of the lead character, drug dealer and nightclub owner James “Ghost” St. Patrick, played by Omari Hardwick (Kick Ass). Naughton will play St. Patrick’s wife, and Sikora a business partner and childhood friend.
The show is being produced by CBS Television Studios. Starz has all global distribution and home entertainment rights to the series.
