Neil Court exits Factory Transmedia board role

Former Decode boss Neil Court has left his non-executive chairman role at UK animation studio Factory Transmedia.

Phil Chalk, the Manchester-based company’s co-founder and managing director, confirmed to TBI Court (left) had left his role a year after joining, having helped Factory “expand at a rate of knots”.

“We’re great friends with Neil and having him on board for the past 12 months has been fantastic for the business,” added Chalk. “We’re trying to into a new space, digital, to expand our reach and we have had to make sure our house is in order so we could expand quite rapidly, which Neil helped us do.”

Court, co-founder of DHX Media predecessor Decode Entertainment, launched Canada-based producer-distributor Peacock Alley with Carrie Mudd in 2012, the same year he joined Factory’s board.

Factory is wholly owned by Chalk and Vince James and is currently coproducing a second season of CBBC series Strange Hill High and working on the upcoming update of BBC Children’s classic Clangers. Chalk said the company was also moving into commercials production as it expands its business operations.
