Broadcasters flock to A+E’s Duck Dynasty
Broadcasters in Europe, Asia and North America have acquired A+E Networks’ series Duck Dynasty.
The Gurney Productions-produced show has been licensed to TV3 in Denmark, TV5 in Finland, Pro4 in Hungary, Veronica in the Netherlands, Kanal 9 in Sweden, TV2 in Norway, Mediacorp in Singapore, OLN in Canada, and Ztélé in French-speaking Canada.
Duck Dynasty follows the Robertson family, billed as “modern day Beverley Hillbillies living the American Dream” through their family business, which provides products for duck hunters.
Season three of the show kicked off in the US on A&E on February 28 with back-to-back episodes and broke records as the cable channel’s number one-rated telecast of all time, attracting 8.6 million viewers, five million of which came from the lucrative 18-49 demo.
“The demand for character-driven series is at an all-time high, and we will no doubt be making further announcements over the coming weeks,” said Marielle Zuccarelli, MD, international content distribution, A+E Networks.
