AMC brings on Endemol to distribute unscripted series
AMC has inked a deal with Endemol, which will sell several of its unscripted shows internationally.
The US cable network is best known as the home of Mad Men and The Walking Dead, but has recently been making strides in unscripted programming too.
It has signed a deal with Endemol Worldwide Distribution, which will represent several of its unscripted shows including competitive taxidermy series Immortalized (pictured), Comic book Men, a reality show set in Clerks creator Kevin Smith’s comic book shop and Small Town Security, about a family private investigation business.
Endemol already sells AMC’s unscripted series Freakshow as well as having international rights in some territories to drama series Hell on Wheels. AMC also has Endemol Studios’ latest big drama launch Low Winter Sun.
Cathy Payne, chief executive, Endemol Worldwide Distribution said: “This is a relatively new genre for AMC and we look forward to helping them achieve the same recognition for their non-scripted programmes as they have done for their scripted series.’”
TBI understands that AMC and sister channel Sundance are close to agreeing a separate distribution deal for international rights to their upcoming original drama series.
