The Walking Dead trumps The Bible; both beat the networks
The Walking Dead and The Bible were the most-watched shows on US TV on Sunday with the cable ratings juggernauts beating all of the broadcast networks in their timeslots.
Both the zombie series and the biblical story recorded stellar numbers, as did Vikings, which was the third most-watched show on cable.
The Walking Dead won the night for AMC with a huge 11.5 million viewers. The Bible on History was second with 10.8 million, a big number, but down on the 13.1 million the series opener recorded a week earlier.
The Walking Dead notched 7.2 million viewers in the all-important 18-to-49 demographic. The Bible registered 3.2 million in the same demo.
Vikings, which followed The Bible’s two-hour run in a 10pm slot, garnered 4.6 million viewers and 1.7 million in the 18-to-49s.
The Walking Dead spin-off magazine show, The Talking Dead, was the fourth most-watched cable show on the night winning AMC 3.4 million viewers, 2.3 million of which were 18-to-49.
The remainder of the cable ratings for the night were in line with what is traditionally expected from cable series with Real Housewives of Atlanta delivering a respectable 2.7 million for Bravo and Army Wives 2.4 million for Lifetime.
