P7S1 inks Hunger Games TV deal
ProSiebenSat.1 has picked up free-to-air TV rights to a raft of upcoming Lionsgate movies including the third and fourth instalments of The Hunger Games franchise.
ProSieben has German and Austrian free TV rights to Lionsgate’s movies in Germany and Austria. It also has second window pay TV and VOD rights.
The German broadcast group concluded the deal through Studiocanal Germany.
Thomas Ebeling, CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG: “‘The Hunger Games is an absolutely top production from Hollywood and I am delighted that we have won the rights to the whole series for our stations. Moreover, the agreement offers us an attractive package of feature films from Lionsgate.”
Rodolphe Buet, CEO at Studiocanal Germany: “We have a long-time experience with the ProSiebenSat.1 team. We share the same passion for films successful in theatre and on TV. I am pleased to strengthen our partnership with the Lionsgate productions, which bring us not only the strongest franchise available on the market but also a very promising development slate.”
As well as Lionsgate, ProSiebenSat.1 has programming deals with other studios including CBS, Disney, Paramount, Sony Pictures International, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Bros.
