Denmark’s most popular digital original is House of Cards, the first time the dark political drama has topped one of our territory-specific charts, while Game of Thrones’ return propelled it to the top of the overall list.

Surprisingly, The Walking Dead does not figure in the overall top ten at all after a dramatic and much-debated ending of its sixth season.

Vikings, which has long been a popular drama in Europe, is the second-most in-demand title in Denmark, which is perhaps unsurprising given the show’s focus and the country’s history.

This week’s chart also suggests Danish viewers have a propensity for established US broadcast shows, with Grey’s Anatomy third, Pretty Little Liars fifth, The Big Bang Theory sixth, The Vampire Diaries eighth, Supernatural ninth and The 100 tenth.

The well-known local appreciation of quaint British mystery dramas is evident with All3Media International-sold Midsomer Murders making an appearance in seventh place.

The difference between the top three shows is just 30,130 average daily demand expressions, with each programme’s themes and plots highlighting how varied local tastes are in Denmark.

On the digital front, the popularity of Netflix originals is evident in Denmark, just as it has been in France and the UK.

Along with House of Cards at the top, Marvel’s Daredevil and Marvel’s Jessica Jones make up three of the top four. The recently launched Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is fifth, with Orange is the New Black, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Fuller House and Narcos all in-demand.

Though Hulu original 11/22/63 plays on linear TV via Fox, it is well ahead of Daredevil in terms of demand, though still trails House of Cards by more than 35,000 average daily demand expressions.

Community appears to remain Yahoo’s biggest original success story, taking seventh place in the charts.
