BBCWW secures detective series presales

BBC Worldwide has shopped upcoming detective drama Maigret to France 3, Germany’s ARD, Sweden’s TV4 and Denmark’s DR.

The deals are the first the BBC’s commercial arm has brokered for the 2x120mins film miniseries, Maigret Sets a Trap and Maigret’s Dead Man. The films star Rowan Atkinson as legendary French detective Jules Maigret.

“The Maigret novels are some of the most classic detective stories of their time, and we’re pleased to be bringing one of the best-known characters in world literature, along with one of the greatest international stars, to viewers worldwide,” said Tobi de Graaff, executive VP of western Europe at BBCWW.

Stewart Harcourt (Marple) wrote the films, which are based on Georges Simenon’s novels, for UK broadcaster ITV. Ealing Studios and Maigret Productions are attached to the shows.
