The original US version of Jersey Shore

The Spanish version of Jersey Shore has been cancelled, according to local reports.

The local version, Gandia Shore, was announced late last year. Shot in the party town of Gandia on the Valencia coast, the series launched last autumn on the Spanish MTV channel.

It was made by Magnolia, which also made the Spanish version of Pimp My Ride, known locally as MTV Tuning.

The second season of Gandia Shore has now been shelved after initial plans to shoot this summer.

The Twitter accounts of the participants have been frozen, according to the numerous local reports about the show’s cancellation.

MTV had not responded to a request for clarification by the time TBI went to press.

UPDATE 16/07/13 12.33pm

MTV has denied the various local reports suggesting Gandia Shore has been shelved.

In a statement it said: “MTV’s Gandia Shore, one of MTV Spain’s most popular series, has not been canceled as speculated. We know fans of MTV’s Gandia Shore are keen to hear news about the upcoming season; we are in dialogue with fans on our platforms and will keep them updated on exciting new plans and developments around the return of Gandia Shore.

The participants’ Twitter accounts are also understood to have been unfrozen.
