Welsh-language broadcaster S4C has struck a deal for a local version of ITV Studios format, The Voice.

The show will be produced by ITVS-owned Boom Cymru and be known as Y Llais, with a 8 x 90-minute version slated to debut in 2025.

The deal marks the 75th adaptation of the format, which has also generated six spin-off versions.

The series will be available to watch on S4C, S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer, with international opera singer Bryn Terfel confirmed as one of the four coaches.

Geraint Evans, S4C’s interim chief content officer, said: “As we aim to attract a wider and more diverse audience, Y Llais will be a fantastic spectacle which will generate widespread interest and appeal.”
