The Good Wife SVOD spin-off named
The subscription on-demand spin-off of CBS drama The Good Wife will be called The Good Fight, and has gone into production.
Cameras rolled on the series in New York City yesterday ahead of the show’s debut on CBS All Access, the SVOD service broadcast network CBS launched two years ago.
The Good Fight is notable as the second original series debuting on the SVOD platform, with Star Trek: Discovery premiering a month before.
The series is set a year after the ending of The Good Wife, and will follow a young lawyer whose reputation is destroyed following an enormous financial scandal. She then joins a Chicago law firm along with her mentor, whose savings were wiped out during the incident.
Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, Rose Leslie, Delroy Lindo, Sarah Steele, Paul Guilfoyle, Bernadette Peters and Erica Tazel star.
The debut episode will launch on the CBS network as a special broadcast in February before subsequent episodes move to CBS All Access.
The show comes from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King, who are showrunners and executive producers. Phil Alden Robinson co-wrote and will executive produce the premiere episode. Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Liz Glotzer, Brooke Kennedy and Alison Cross also serve as executive producers.
Ex-CBS Television Studio drama chief Julie McNamara was named executive VP, original content for CBS All Access back in June.
