NBCU inks formats deal with France’s Terminal 9
The formats arm of NBCUniversal has inked a first-look deal with Terminal 9 Studios.
Paris-based formats company Terminal 9 will work up formats for NBCU, which the studio will then further develop through its network of production companies and take to market.
Terminal 9 Studios’s managing director and creative director, Claude Lacaze will work closely with NBCUniversal International Studios’ senior VP, factual and entertainment, David Mortimer to develop the new unscripted formats.
NBCUniversal International Formats’ senior VP, format sales and production, Yvonne Pilkington, will then oversee their international roll out.
Former Endemol France exec Lacaze created Terminal 9 in 2013.
Mortimer (right) said: “From the moment we first sat down together, I realised we share a passion for creating great entertainment formats that will excite the international market, so I can’t wait for our development teams to get working on the next big thing.”
Claude Lacaze added: “The partnership provides the perfect opportunity to expand Terminal 9 Studios’ creative reach globally. We can’t wait to start working with David and the NBCUniversal International Studios team to create some innovative new unscripted formats with mass worldwide appeal.”
