Boelhouwer returns to Endemol Shine in rejig
Iris Boelhouwer is returning to Endemol Shine Group as a co-CEO of the firm’s Netherlands arm, a move triggered by restructuring in Latin America.
Boelhouwer was Endemol Shine’s managing director, creative operations before stepping down in August. In that post she oversaw Big Brother, Deal or No Deal and The Money Drop.
However, following the latest changes at the mega-indie, which comprises both the Endemol and Shine production companies, she will lead Endemol Shine Netherlands along with co-chief executive Boudewijn Beusmans, who is leaving his group chief commercial officer post at the parent company.
They take up the posts next year following the move of incumbent Endemol Shine Netherlands CEO Laurens Drillich to Endemol Shine Latino, where he has been named president.
Beusmans will focus on growth and innovation, while Boelhouwer will look after creative development, working across the firm’s formats and programming across platforms.
Endemol Shine Netherlands’ assets include Human Factor, Kemna & Zonen, Second Nature, Simpel Media and TVBV as well as talent agency Talent Kitchen and digital video hub Endemol Beyond Netherlands.
Drillich previously oversaw Endemol’s business in the Hispanic US and Mexican markets. He will report to Endemol Shine North America co-chairmen and CEOs Cris Abrego and Charlie Corwin.
Drillich will establish and lead a new central Endemol Shine hub in Miami that will bring together the US Hispanic and Mexican businesses, as well as operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru, and format sales activities across Latin America.
Further changes see creative director and CEO for Latin America Martin Kweller becoming creative director for the new hub. He will continue in his post as chairman of Endemol Shine Argentina and operations director for the Latin American region.
Endemol Shine Latino co-executive VPs Daniel Rodriguez and Mauricio Piccone will remain in their posts, overseeing sales and programming initiatives in the Hispanic US and Mexican markets, respectively.
“These are markets that are key to the continued growth and diversification of our global business and it’s essential that we have world class leadership in place for each,” said Endemol Shine CEO Sophie Turner Laing.
“In the Netherlands Boudewijn and Iris will respectively bring with them exceptional commercial expertise and brilliant creative skills, whilst Laurens’ and Martin’s international experience and relationships will be invaluable in driving further collaboration and growth across the Spanish and Portuguese language marketplace in the Americas.”
