Ex-Dragonfly boss resurfaces at ITV Studios prodco
The former managing director of Dragonfly Film & TV, Simon Dickson, has joined an ITV Studios-owned UK producer.
Dickson is joining Shiver, producer of doc Exposure: The Other Side of Jimmy Savile and the … Up doc series, to launch a new label.
He will be joined by executive producer Lorraine Charker-Phillips, who is joining from Sky, where she a commissioning editor in the factual entertainment team.
This comes as Shiver promotes Mark Robinson to creative director, popular factual.
Dickson, best known as co-creator of 24 Hours in A&E and One Born Every Minute, exited his role as managing director of Dragonfly in April last year before the prodco’s parent, Shine Group, merged with Endemol and Core Media Group.
Before Dragonfly, he was deputy head of documentaries at UK broadcaster Channel 4 and a producer at the BBC. He is credited with driving through the rise of C4’s fixed-rig doc strategy.
At Shiver, he will be creative director, reporting to MD Alexander Gardiner
Charker-Phillips, meanwhile, is credited with commissioning fact ent and doc shows at Sky such as Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model, My Kitchen Rules, and The Town That Danced Again.
“Simon is one of the industry’s most charismatic and consistently successful creative leaders,” said Gardiner. “I’m delighted that with his appointment and that of Lorraine, two such big hitters are joining us here at Shiver. It’s a sign of our ambition for the company.
Both execs join in April.
